Facebook will make payments to users who download the Study application, which it developed to monitor users’ phone activities.
Study application, which will process various data of users and analyze their usage habits, will be described as the ‘New market research application’. The application will collect data about the applications users have installed on their phones and the time they spend on them, which country they are in, the device and network features they use. In the optional application, information such as user ID, password, photos, videos and messages will not be accessible. The data obtained by the Study application will not be served to third party applications and will not be used for advertising purposes.
FACEBOOK WILL MAKE PAYMENTS TO THOSE WHO USE THE APPLICATION
Users under the age of 18 will not be able to access the application, which can be downloaded by those who use the Android operating system on their phones. The age of the users will be checked through their Facebook account. Facebook will also collect users’ bank account information during the membership phase of the Study application and make payments to those who allow the use of their data. While the application is first available in America and India, it will be available in other countries in the future. In the statement made by Facebook, it was promised that user data will be stored securely and that this data will be used only for market research and better product creation.
